1991

Exceeds 100,000 Members

ASQC celebrates its 45th anniversary and membership exceeds 100,000. ASQC becomes the sole administrator of the Baldrige Award.

1968

First Certification Examinations

The first certification examinations are held for quality engineers. Industrial Quality Control is replaced by two new publications, Quality Progress magazine and The Journal of Quality Technology.

1947

First Annual Technical Conference

Nearly 2,000 attend ASQC's first Annual Technical Conference and the Second Midwest Quality Control Conference in Chicago.

1946

American Society for Quality is Formed

George Edwards, director of quality assurance at Bell Telephone Labs, is elected president. Industrial Quality Control becomes ASQ's first flagship publication. The Rochester section became one of the founding members of ASQ.

1945

1st ASQ Rochester Quality Conference

On February 20, 1945 ASQ Rochester held their Quality Control Clinic now know as the ASQ Rochester Quality Conference

1944

Rochester Section first Dinner Meeting

On May 15, 1944 a notice was by the IMC announcing a dinner meeting on May 23rd. That meeting is considered to be the first meeting of what was to become the Rochester Section. One hundred forty five reservations were received for that meeting.

Installation of Rochester Section Officers

The October 10, 1944 meeting for ASQ Rochester included the election and installation of section officers.
